Saturday, December 31, 2005--New Year's Eve

On this day:
In 2002: "Old man in! Old man in!" "Old man out! Old man out!"

Anyways, I spent the first half of the day posting Dark Fiends Chapter 59. Then, I worked on The Hyperman Chronicles and Demons Engine Architecture 3.

In the evening, we had a party at my place, which included a bunch of family fiends, such as the Hos (Jeffrey and Connie), the Liangs (Bernard and Kellie), and the Lius (Little Vivian and Quiet Robin). Highlights include... Um... I forgot.

Me: I'll have another eggroll or two.
Franklin: There's only one left.
Me: Then, I'll have the one eggroll.
Franklin: Wait and see if the other guests want it.
Me: Fine. I'll just be like [Little] Vivian and not eat.
Franklin: Can you be like Robin and not talk?
Me: Hmm... no, I don't think so.
(I ended up getting the eggroll after all.)

Also, Vivian P called, but this time, I wasn't playing a video game, so the other kids didn't kill me off while I was distracted.

Me: See, that's why I always refer to Vivian [Liu] as Little Vivian.
Connie: Who's Big Vivian?
Me: The person who just called me.

Good New Year's Eve!
Friday, December 30, 2005--Happy New Year's Eve Eve! (whatever that means)

Anyways, I played more FF8.

*8*Hunting for Malboros in order to get Doomtrain... tedious, but amusing.

Also, I went to the Islands Closest to Hell and Heaven. Lots of magical Draw points. Yay!
*8*

Then, we went to Kellie's place to hang around and play video games and stuff.

Dice Roll of the Day: (6, 4) Total: 10

Good Night!
Thursday, December 29, 2005 - Addendum--I was playing FF8, and I've gotten to some sidequests that I never did before.

*8*I'm just before the point of no return (before Lunatic Pandora in Disc 3), so I went to do some sidequests. Anyways, Jumbo Cactuar was easy. Bahamut was easy. Ultima Weapon was the first boss that killed me, but he was easy anyway. I think I'm overpowered. Correction: I know I'm overpowered.*8*

Then, I played Soul Calibur 3.
Thursday, December 29, 2005--I woke up slightly later than usual today. By the time I woke up, Franklin's friends were already here playing Mario Soccer or something. WTF?

Anyways, I worked some more on The Hyperman Chronicles and played some more FF8. Other than that, there's not much more for me to say.

Dice Roll of the Day: (2, 5) Total: 7

*yawn* Good Night... Zzz...
Wednesday, December 28, 2005--Today, in the morning and for part of the afternoon, I was helping my dad change the oil for two of our cars. Mmm... oil...

On this day:
In 2002: I beat FFX.

I spent the rest of the day working on a new series. I'll give you a bit of teaser info: It's called The Hyperman Chronicles, and it's a superhero series.

Dice Roll of the Day: (5, 2) Total: 7

Cute Night!
Tuesday, December 27, 2005--It's kind of amusing. Today was probably the earliest I've woken up all winter break. And why did I wake up so early? Because I would be meeting Vivian C for lunch at Ariake Sushi. (Incidentally, Vivian said this was the earliest she woke up all winter break, too.)

Me: Merry Christmas! *hands Vivian the card and stuffed animal*
Vivian: Oh, you didn't have to.
Me: I said I would.
Vivian: Really? When was this? I don't remember.

Highlights include: The waiter giving us sauce when we asked for a box (to take home leftovers).

Also, apparently, Vivian refused to let me pay for her lunch. Well, at least I have 6 extra dollars now.

Afterwards, Justin came over to my place, where we played Soul Calibur 3 and unlocked hella shit. Then, we played MTG. Then, we watched Franklin play Alien Hominid with his friend.

Justin: Well, time to go. See you later, Frankie. See you later, Isaac.
Me: That's not Isaac. Unless Isaac got a face-lift and a haircut.
Justin: Oh, whoops. Well, see you later, whoever you are.

After dinner, me, Franklin, and Justin played Mario Strikers, or whatever the game is called. (Mario Soccer. It was mildly amusing.)

Dice Roll of the Day: (3, 1) Total: 4

You should all know what comes next: Good Night!
Monday, December 26, 2005--Sometimes I wonder... I know that I never put "On this day" on the first line, since that makes it look weird, but would it be better to write some filler crap (such as this) or just leave it blank and start the "On this day" on a new line. Oh, well. It's too late. I already wrote some filler. (If you have an opinion on this or on anything, you can go post in the forums.)

On this day:
In 2003: The birth of my Red-Green Sliver Beatdown deck.

Anyways, now for some real content... which is probably shorter and less interesting than the filler. LOL, I'm so lame.

Anyways, today, I went to Oakridge Mall to buy a late Christmas gift. (The gift is late because I won't see the person I'm giving it to until tomorrow.)

Then, I continued working on Demons Engine Architecture 3. Work is slow, but I have some grand plans.

Dice Roll of the Day: (4, 1) Total: 5

There's nothing more to say except Good Night!
Sunday, December 25, 2005--Merry Christmas!

Today, I basically stayed at home and played FF8. Kind of a boring day, if you ask me.

Dice Roll of the Day: (3, 2) Total: 5

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!
Saturday, December 24, 2005--Christmas Eve...

On this day:
In 2002: I get accepted to CalTech... it was my "Christmas gift".

After working on Dark Fiends, we went to a family friend's place in Vallejo, where we had a Christmas Eve feast (their dad is a really good cook) and played lots and lots of Halo. It's kind of funny. In all the games of Halo we played, I was dead last except when we played Swords only.

Dice Roll of the Day: (6, 2) Total: 8

So... umm... Good Night!
Friday, December 23, 2005--Today, I played some FF8.

Then, later, I met up with Vivian P and had dinner at Carrow's. Then, we saw Memoirs of a Geisha. It was an all right movie.

Dice Roll of the Day: (4, 6) Total: 10

G'night!
Thursday, December 22, 2005--Today, I meant to wake up early, but instead I woke up late. D'oh!

Anyways, today, I worked on Dark Fiends. And... that's pretty much it.

Dice Roll of the Day: (5, 2) Total: 7

Also, there's an addendum to Tuesday. Anyways, Good Night!
Wednesday, December 21, 2005--Today, I continued playing FF8 where I left off. Then, I went online. (Not much more to say.)

Dice Roll of the Day: (1, 5) Total: 6

Anyways, back to more FF8. Good Night!
Tuesday, December 20, 2005--Addendum: Last night, I dreamt that I was doing something--I forget what--but Kim is there. For some reason, Kim was going around hugging people, except she was squeezing really really hard. So then, I squeeze her back, and she folded in half length-wise. WTF?!?

First thing's first, I beat FF4 Hardtype.

*4*So I tried again at beating Zeromus. This time, what happened was that I tried with Edge to steal the Dark Matter 60+ times in a row and failed over and over and over again. So then, I decided to just go for it with or without the Dark Matter. It turns out that stealing the Dark Matter barely makes a difference. This time, Zeromus managed only to kill of one character: He used Big Bang and followed up with Flare to knock out Rydia. Poor girl. Anyhow, I killed off Zeromus pretty easily after that.

My last save point was at 27 hours, 46 minutes (before I rushed through the last 4 floors to fight Zeromus), and I had a level 56 Rydia, level 57 Edge, level 58 Rosa, level 59 Cecil, and level 60 Kain.

Here are my thoughts as posted on Avalanche Online:

"As you all know, I've played and beaten the Super Nintendo version of FF4 (ie, FF4 Easytype) a long, long time ago. However, over the last few months, I bought and played the PSX re-release of FF4 (in US, it's packaged with Chrono Trigger as "FF Chronicles"), because I wanted to be true to the game and play FF4 as it was meant to be played.

I was gravely disappointed. FF4 Hardtype isn't hard at all. Other than a few bosses (Dark Elf and Evil Wall), I cleared the game with the same ease as I did FF4 Easytype. Not even the final boss (whom everyone has told me is extremely hard) was very challenging. I cleared the game in less than 30 hours and none of my characters were above level 60.

That said, I still think FF4 is a good game. It's up there with classics like FF5 (hardest FF ever made), FF6, Chrono Trigger, and FFTactics."
*4*

After that, I worked on the next Dark Fiends, but soon left so that I could have dinner at Round Table with the Justin and Ryan.

Ryan: Why did you get two larges? Next time, just get one large.
Justin: Hey, Jeng was the one who picked two larges.
Me: Yeah. You gave me a choice of 2 larges or 2 extra larges.

Afterwards, we went back to Justin's place, where we were soon joined by Mark, and we played PS2 games such as Bomberman, Soul Calibur 3 (Justin kicked everyone), DOA2, and Alien Hominid (an amusing comedy side scroller). We also played some MTG team games and free-for-alls, because Multiplayer Magic is awesome.

So there was this 4 player free-for-all with Attack Right rules. I'm using my Slivers. Ryan is sitting to my right with his sneak attack deck. Justin sits to Ryan's right with his Goblin deck. And Mark sits to his right (and to my left) with my Relentless Rats deck. So Ryan plays a Pandemonium, then proceeds to kill off Justin and Mark. I'm at 20 life, and Ryan's at 8. Then, I play a Blade Sliver and use Pandemonium to deal 3 to Ryan. Then, I follow up with a Lightning Bolt and a Shock to his head.

Ryan: Man, I should take out Pandemonium. I just got killed by my own card.

Dice Roll of the Day: (1, 2) Total: 3

God Knight!
Monday, December 19, 2005--Today, I went to lunch at Ariake Sushi with Justin, who has made his triumphant return from UCLA. Afterwards, we came to my place to play MTG. (Engineered Plague is not a card you want to be playing in a Tribal vs Tribal game. Sure, it's a hoser, but it's kind of a too powerful of a hoser.) Then, we watched The 40 Year-Old Virgin. (The movie, you dolt!) It was amusing.

Then, while waiting for my computer to run maintenance on itself, I played FF4. I'm almost done with the game. All that's left to do is beat the final boss.

*4*Unfortunately, since between the last save point, I have to run through 4 rooms and then spend about 10 or so minutes trying to steal the Dark Matter from Zeromus to reduce his damage, trying over and over again to defeat Zeromus just doesn't really work, mainly since each try would take a while. Man, I wonder how I ever managed to try so many times against the Emerald Weapon, when each try takes me about an hour?

Anyhow, Zeromus kicked my ass. He might be a little stronger in Hardtype, I'm not sure. I think the biggest difference is the while in Easytype, the only spell I had to worry about was Big Bang, in Hardtype, I have to worry about Big Bang and Flare, which makes it a lot harder to keep my guys alive. Early on in the battle, Zeromus kills of Edge (fortunately, this was after I had already thrown the Knife (Spoon for you SNES "FF2" fans), but he could have done better with throwing Excalibur, Gungnir, Defense Sword, and Light Sword), so I'm just going at it with Cecil (who attacks with Ragnarok), Rydia (who summons Bahamut), Kain (who Jumps), and Rosa (who casts Cure4 like a madwoman). Then, Zeromus manages to kill off Rydia. Then, he managed to kill off Cecil. That's when I realize that the battle is going pretty badly for me. I don't really think Kain can solo Zeromus, even if Rosa is healing him every turn. That and, Jumping doesn't really help much when I want to heal Kain.

Anyways, I eventually lost the battle because I missed a beat with Rosa. I decided to turn back and look at how much MP I had, but that delayed casting Cure4 by just enough time so that Zeromus was able to get off 2 Big Bangs in a row, which is Game Over... literally!

Anyways, let's do some calculations. Edge can throw shit for 8000 damage each turn on average (Spoon and Excalibuar probably go for 9999, the rest a little bit less, so that's about the average). Cecil attacks for about 4500 damage each turn. Kain Jumps for about 3000 damage each turn. Rydia summons Bahamut for about 9000 damage each turn. In total, that's 24,500 damage per turn. However, Zeromus seems to have a good time killing off my characters. That and, they don't always attack every turn (some attacks have delays, like Jump and any form of magic), so we should use a conservative estimate of 12k damage per turn. Zeromus has, supposedly, 130k HP. So on average, it should take me about 11 turns to kill off Zeromus. Rosa has a little over 500 MP. Cure4 costs 40 MP, so Rosa has enough MP to cast 12 times. That means, I should never have to restore Rosa's MP. So judging purely by the numbers, I'm strong enough to take out Zeromus. Perhaps I should give it another try?
*4*

Well, that seems to be it.

Sunday, December 18, 2005--Happy Birthday Stacie & Stephanie!

On this day:
Iin 2003: The birth of the SVBrain Rydia.

Anyways, today, I implemented the search functionality for my webjournal. Do you see the search bar in the upper right corner? Good. You can use that to do a full text search on my journal.

Also, using that full text search, I came up with the following results:
Name Number of Journal Entries
Dwayne 125
Justin 207
Alan 176
Abhi 30
Vivian 45
Sarah 69
Kim 124
Tracy 60

Well, that was certainly enlightening.

The second feature I implemented on my website is Overheard, the quoteboard of amusing quotes, often taken out of context. I'm still harvesting old quotes as we speak to populate the board.

Saturday, December 17, 2005--w00t! Today is my last final!

On this day:
In 2003: Tracy and the CS61a final... you had to be there... read it up on the Journal Archive.

It's the CS162 (Operating Systems) Final.

Abhi: How did you do?
Abhi: Oh, wait, you left early. Of course you did well.

Then, I went home.

At home, Kellie and her parents came over to our place to play Mahjong, and I played FF4.

Dice Roll of the Day: (3, 1) Total: 4

That's all, so Good Night!
Friday, December 16, 2005--Today is my one day off between finals.

On this day:
In 2003: "Some of us are older than we are."
In 2002: I start doing Limericks on my website.

(Speaking of which, if you want to submit a limerick to my website, e-mail it to me.)

So I spent it testing out new MTG deck ideas.

The first one was a Boros deck. For those of you who don't know, Boros is a pretty unimaginative archetype that combines the speed of White Weenie with the speed of Sligh. So yeah, that makes them uber-fast. It's called Boros because the Boros guild in the Ravnica set is Red/White. So basically, what I do is I put all the interesting Boros cards in the deck with intent to cut out the ones that work poorly. What ended up happening is that the unpolished Boros deck is so good that it creamed my Relentless Mice deck. Well, I guess that means what I gotta do is polish it up.

The second deck is one that I nicknamed Dread Dredge. The whole point is that the deck is so loaded with Dredge cards and Flashback cards that basically, I get perfect draws every turn (because of Dredge cards in my graveyard) and extra card advantage (because of Flashback cards in my 'yard). The one downside is that it takes a while to get started, because I need a Dredge card in my 'yard before I can start packing my 'yard with stuff that I can use. Testing shows that it's slightly better than Relentless Rats, but this deck has a long way to go in terms of polishing. The other problem is that Dread Dredge is especially susceptible to anti-graveyard strategies.

Dice Roll of the Day: (4, 5) Total: 9

Afterwards, I began my nominal review for my CS162 final, which is tomorrow.

How many ways can a man say Good Night?
Thursday, December 15, 2005--Happy Birthday Emma H!

On this day:
In 2003: "One years ago, Mary was one years older than Mary was one years ago."

Ah, finally, I'm caught up with my journal entries. Why do I keep falling behind, anyhow?

CS170 (Algorithms) Final... It wasn't too bad. Time wasn't the limiting factor, since I had enough time to work on every problem. The problem was, there was this one problem I couldn't solve, so I kind of sat there fore about 15 minutes having no clue whatsoever. Oh well, it's not important.

So then, I played a little bit of Diablo II, and that brings us to the now.

Dice Roll of the Day: (6, 2) Total: 8

Other than that, I must (and I shall) wish you a Good Night!
Wednesday, December 14, 2005--EE125 (Robotics) Final...

On this day:
In 2003: "Could you please tell your Away Message to shut the fuck up?!?"

It's kind of funny. About 5 minutes before the exam, everyone collectively realized that no one knew what exactly a robot was. I mean, we've been studying robotics for the past semester, but nobody knew what exactly it was we were studying! The thing with robots is that we can all recognize one when we see one, but no one seems to have an all encompassing definition of what exactly a robot is.

Anyways, the exam was easy. In fact, there was a question that was basically the same question as one on mudterm 2 (except different), so I just pull out mudterm 2 and looked at what I did back then.

Me (to Amy): You certainly finished fast.
Amy: I could say the same to you.

Anyways, I spent part of the rest of the day playing Diablo II before deciding that I should start reviewing for CS170. So... yeah, I did.

Dice Roll of the Day: (2, 4) Total: 6

This is the part where I say Good Night!
Tuesday, December 13, 2005--Today, I went back to Berkeley, but not before going to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. It's kind of sad. Working together, my mother and I can't even finish one pasta dish at the Factory. Those pasta dishes are huge. Maybe we should have split a lunch-sized portion. (Or maybe I just ate too much bread and butter.)

On this day:
In 2002: Emma Heffernan makes her first uncensored appearance in my Journal.

Then, back at Berkeley, I wasted a bit of time playing Diablo II before learning the material for EE125. Yes, I said learning. The final is tomorrow, and I'm not exactly sure what the last 1/3 of the class is about. Fortunately, it's open notes, so all I needed to do was read over the handouts the prof gave me and summarize stuff in my notes ('cause of the many many pages that Professor Tendick gave us, prolly less than 10% of it is relevant... I said relevant, not Revenant).

Dice Roll of the Day: (6, 5) Total: 11

Later, I watched Memento with Vivian P, who later went home and left me with an In-N-Out burger. Mmm... In-N-Out... Too bad these things only exist in the southwestern corner of the US. Maybe they could expand to Baja California? I dunno the legality of shipping meat across the border.

Oh, yeah, and Memento is an awesome movie. Although it takes a bit of memory to be able to watch the movie backwards, ironically.

Before I forget, Good Night!
Monday, December 12, 2005--"Dwayne, it's morning. Why isn't your cell phone on? Call me back!"

It's voicemails like those that make you feel important.

Anyways, I have no clue what I was doing today. This entry (as well as yesterday's) wouldn't even be posted until Thursday the 15th.

Dice Roll of the Day: (6, 2) Total: 8

Good Night, y'all!
Sunday, December 11, 2005--Today, I spent the majority of the day working on the CS162 project not because I wanted to, but because I had to. Even after taking slip days into account, it's due tomorrow, and contrary to popular belief, I might not be able to finish this accursed thing in just one day.

I ended up finishing it at 4am in the morning. (Although I did watch Star Wars Episode 3, which my parents rented on DVD, which is a little over 2 hours, so I wouldn't have made midnight anyway. Hah!)

Dice Roll of the Day: (6, 3) Total: 9

Other than that, Good Night!
Saturday, December 10, 2005--Today, I went home.

I also ate at Hot Pot City (and was able to read the Chinese name of the restaurant; I'm so proud of myself (it was "Hot Pot City", in Chinese)).

I also played Soul Calibur 3, but then I got bored after I realized that I suck at fighting games. Oh, well, at least the character creation was amusing.

I also watched Batman Begins. It was an awesome movie. It's good to see a serious Batman movie after the last few that we've had.

Dice Roll of the Day: (1, 2) Total: 3

I wish thee a Good Night!
Friday, December 9, 2005--Last day of classes, w00t!

...but I didn't go to class. Instead, I decided in favor of helping out for the TBP Initiation & Banquet!

Let's see...

Nope, nothing to say about Initiation & Banquet. They were indescribably awesome. Fortunately, I asked for phone numbers.

Speaking of phone numbers, I was thinking about cell phone culture today. I remember back in the day, everyone memorized the phone numbers of their closest friends. Now, everyone just relies on auto-dial, and no one knows anyone's phone number. I think that if someone is worth calling, it's worth actually knowing they're phone number.

So I've resolved that whenever I call a person, I'm going to dial they're number manually (unless I'm in a hurry). That way, I can eventually learn the numbers of people I call the most, and all will be well.

Others should follow my example.

Dice Roll of the Day: (6, 2) Total: 8

Good Night!
Thursday, December 8, 2005--Yay, second-to-last-day of classes!

CS188 Lecture... It was led by John Denero discussion the Philosophical Implications of AI. For about half an hour, we were arguing over whether or not Searle's Chinese Room argument was good or not. Searle sucks. He presumes to know what understanding is, when he clearly doesn't. No one does. (If you disagree, come to me for enlightenment.)

EE125 Lecture... It wasn't a "fun" lecture, so I stopped paying attention. Fortunately, the final is open notes, and everything he talked about was on handouts. That and this material probably isn't going to be covered in too much detail on the final.

After going to the Bear Market to waste my points and eating dinner at Xroads, I did nothing in particular. I should be doing homework.

Dice Roll of the Day: (3, 4) Total: 7

Well, I'll see you all later. Good Night!
Wednesday, December 7, 2005--Today, I overslept and missed my (last) CS162 Discussion, so instead, I went to lunch at Xroads and ran into Lei, who had also overslept, so we had lunch together.

On this day:
In 2004: Karen Yang can roll her tongue 3 times.

Lei: Do you have a 4.0?
(Notice how she asked "Do you have a 4.0?" as opposed to "What's your GPA?")
Me: Well, normally I don't tell people, but you're Lei. You've known me since high school.

Also, since Prof Michael Jordan is away for the week, I decided not to go to CS170 Lecture. Instead, I opted to stay in my dorm room and do CS162 project (my part is done--I just need to write test cases now) before going to

CS162 Lecture... random topics, such as Windows vs Linux and and OceanStore.

Dice Roll of the Day: (1, 6) Total: 7

Then, I had dinner at the Late Nite Grill at Xroads with Vivian P, Stacy, and Mike. Mmm... Late Nite Grill.

Mike: You should have a plan for your money, like buy a house or put it into a 401k.
Vivian: Or take me shopping.
Me: Huh? What? Take you shopping? Investment? I can't argue with that.
Vivian: Ooh, did you hear that? You two (Mike and Stacy) are my witnesses.
Me: Wait, what? I didn't say I'd take you shopping. I just said I couldn't argue with it.
Me: ...all right, I'll take you shopping.
Vivian: Yay!

G o o d N i g h t !
Tuesday, December 6, 2005--It's kind of funny. Last night, Abhi IMs me so the gang can go eat lunch together at Xroads. Now, usually I'm the one who oversleeps, but this time, Abhi overslept. Oops.

On this day:
In 2004: The lost and found watch incident.
In 2002: Jessica Lu copies my homework... photocopies, that is!

CS188 Lecture... today's lecture was on robotics. It was mostly the same stuff that we covered in EE125 the other day, except we had robot dogs playing soccer.

EE125 Lecture...

CS188 Discussion... We will miss John. He was one of the most awesome TAs we ever had.

Then, I went to Winterfest at Xroads (aka, Steak Night). It was crazy crowded. I showed up at 5:15, and the line went all the way around the corner. I had to wait until 6pm before I could get in, and then I had to wait in line for 15 minutes in line to actually get food. It was all worth it, though.

Me: I'll have some salmon and some steak.
Dinner Lady: There's no steak here, only filet mignon.

Also, Lei and the rest of the choir were singing at Xroads, so as I was walking by, I start wondering if she's going to notice me, since she has her head buried in the songbook. Then, she looks up and waves at me. Hurray!

I also skipped TBP Potluck, hehe.

Dice Roll of the Day: (5, 2) Total: 7

I spent the rest of the day solving my EE125 homework. Anyways, Good Night!
Monday, December 5, 2005--Today, I woke up uber-late, but it's all good, since I don't have class until 3, which I'm skipping anyway in favor of "studying" for the CS162 Mudterm.

On this day:
In 2003: I beat FF1.

Anyways, after studying none at all, (because I found some errors in my CS188 project, so I was fixing them), I went down to Soda Underground to turn in my CS170 homework, and on my way out, I ran into Kim K, who started asking me for help on the CS188 project. And then I found more errors on my own project. And then

Olivia O: *poke*poke* Are you ready for the midterm?
Me: Not yet.
Olivia: O.
Me: Good luck.

Then, the Cog Sci girl from my discussion (not Diana) asks me for help, so I help her. It was a trivial division error, and I realized that I had a similar, but different error in my code. Then, Mark S shows up to study for CS162, and I decide to go to Evans Underground to review for the mudterm.

Finally, I take the CS162 Mudterm. It was easy. It's kind of funny. The classes always lets us use notesheets, but we rarely ever actually need to use them.

Then, I realized that my last bug fix might have changed the answers to some of the test-runs I was doing. In particular, it should have made some of my AIs smarter.

Me: Yeah, it would have made a big difference in Spider Solitaire. Dividing by 5 instead of by 32 quintillion.
Nadia: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

(Quintillion is a real number, by the way. It's 10^18.)

So, yeah. Hopefully my CS188 project is correct now. Because it's past midnight. Which is when it's due.

I think that's all for today. Anyways, Good Night!
Sunday, December 4, 2005--
On this day:
In 2003: The birth of SiniticImpaler, the Diablo 2 Spear Barb.
In 2002: "Good news is, I found the rest of the music. Bad news is, there are 20 more pages."

Anyways, the day began with TBP elections. Apparently, we opted to move them back a week so as to not interfere with studying for finals, etc. Unfortunately, that resulted in us not having enough people to fill all the officer positions. It all began when Dustin said

Dustin: Uhh, I count 37 positions on the board, but there definitely aren't that many people here.

And you know what? There weren't. Everyone kept nominating me for everything, but I always declined, because I was holding out for the IT committee. (Oddly enough, someone nominated me for IT chair, but I opted not to run against Alex, 'cause he's more dependable than I am.)

In the end, we had 3-4 positions that we need to fill (depending on whether or not Paul's e-mail was completely accurate regarding the RSec position).

Well, I guess I'll have to start recruiting from the pool of candidates who will be initiating on Friday.

Afterwards, I started and finished the CS188 project, with the support of Nadia, because Nadia is awesome.

Until next time, Good Night!
Saturday, December 3, 2005--Funky Saturday...

On this day:
In 2003: Leonard: "Wow... you code fast."

Anyways, today, I went to breakfast at Xroads and ran into Vivian P, so I join her for breakfast.

Then, I go to Eudemonia to finish my Relentless Mice deck. However, for the actual Cal MTG "Meeting", no one showed up. (Heh, it was an M:TG Mtg.)

Then, I re-designed the CS162 Project and sent it out.

After dinner, I finished by CS170 Homework, because I could.

And then, (this is the crowning achievement of the day), I discovered that sometime in September (the earliest source I can find is dated September 14), the list of features of SharePoint v3 was published on blogs, so it's official. My stuff made it into SharePoint v3. And also, since it's public (or rather, was public 2.5 months ago), I can tell you what I did. I created the Wiki support in SharePoint, and as a by-product, I also wrote a diff'ing program that takes two strings and diffs them (and depending on whether or not the word-breaker actually worked, it's either word-by-word or sentence-by-sentence or paragraph-by-paragraph or even inter-HTML-tag diff'ing). It was awesome. Also, my work on the SharePoint Wiki feature was what got me into Wikipedia. If you like Wikipedia, you'll love SharePoint Wiki Sites.

Today was most definitely a Good Night!
Friday, December 2, 2005--
On this day:
In 2003: In 2002:
For lunch, I ate nachos.

Then, I went to my CS162 Proj4 Design Review, which was about Nachos.

Mmm... nachos...

TBP Donuts & Bagels and Packet Turn-In 2... Apparently, lots of people of people opted to write their candidate essay about me. I had no idea I'd become popular. I guess it just goes to show how I've become more social over the years.

Also, apparently, people actually call me! I was working on the Crossword today at Donuts & Bagels, and all of a sudden, my cell phone starts ringing. Vivian P was calling me. Therefore, Vivian P is awesome.

EE125 Discussion...

I go to the Bear Market to by hordes of food. Then, I go visit Vivian. Then, I eat dinner. Then, I go to the Den and Sprites by the 12-pack. Now, I'm just typing this journal entry. Typing typing. Typing typing. Typing!

Dice Roll of the Day: (5, 4) Total: 9

Typing typing. Typing typing. Typing typing. Typing typing. Good Night!
Thursday, December 1, 2005--CS188 Lecture... It was the most awesome CS188 Lecture ever. It was on natural language, and some of the quirks about natural language are simply hilarious.

Profound: Red books are mostly white.

Hilariously ambigious: Eighth Army push bottles up Germans.

EE125 Lecture...

Then, I tried to do CS170 Homework. It's kind of funny. My CS170 homework is basically to prove that these problems are really really hard (NP-completeness), but I failed. Oops!

Then, I had to go speak at an Interview Workshop.

Amusing question (from a girl): What happens if your interviewer asks you out?
Brandon: If they're hot, go for it!

Then, I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind with Vivian P. It's an awesome movie. Also, the movie re-affirms my belief that memories are precious. I whole-heartedly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys really artistic movies.
