January 2009

Saturday, January 31, 2009--Today was the Amazon.com (post-)holiday party at the Seattle Museum of Flight. It was rather amusing, given that the Seattle Museum of Flight was rather amusing. Hmm... I wonder how I could have used this to my advantage...

Hmm... should I wish Florence a happy birthday on my bloop?
Friday, January 30, 2009--You know how I said Battlestar this season sucked? Well, I have to take it back. Today, they played a kickass awesome episode of BSG, which more than makes up for the crappy previous 2 episodes. They kicked off a story arc about mutiny aboard the Battlestar. I'd like to see where the writers take this.
Thursday, January 29, 2009--
On this day:
In 2005: I go snowboarding for the first time ever. It sucked.

"I don't like your plan. It sucks."
--Yuna, Final Fantasy X-2
Monday, January 26, 2009--Happy Birthday Kell Kell!
Saturday, January 24, 2009--Today, there was a dinner "party" at Chris's, so I made cookies. As I was arriving, I called Chris to let me into the apartment.

Chris: Oh yeah, today you will be inhaling smoke whether you like it or not.
me: What, like 2nd-hand? 3rd-hand?
Chris: Hmm... I dunno what hand this would be.

Apparently, it's easy to release large quantities of smoke into your apartment when you're cooking steak. We had to leave the door open and use a fan to redirect the smoke outside. (The fan eventually ended up breaking--the base came off. Oops!) At least it was good steak, though.

Also, Abhi made stirfry lamb with spices, notably 4 habaneros. It was spicy enough to make a grown man cry. Namely, me. I cried.

Also, earlier on in the evening:

Abhi: Hey Dwayne, want a piece of carrot? *points to orange thing*
me: That's not a carrot, dood!
Abhi: Of course it is! I'll prove it to you. *puts orange thing in mouth*
me: ...I still don't believe you.
Abhi: Come on, man, I just put a slice of habanero in my mouth. The least you could do is play along.

me: *laughingly puts another slice of habanero in my mouth, then catches fire*
Wednesday, January 21, 2009--Lost Season 5 began today. I'm not really a fan of the show, but I am mildly entertained by it. Chris and Abhi are fans, though, so we all went to Chris's place to watch the Lost Season 5 premiere. It was disappointing, but it was still better than that BSG lameness we had to suffer through last Friday.

On this day:
In 2004: Maria becomes audible.

Sunday, January 18, 2009--
On this day:
In 2004: We release our fish into mercury-poisoned Almaden lake...

I bet they're all mutated now and seeking revenge on their former human masters.
Saturday, January 17, 2009--For some reason, I decided to bake cookies today. So I did. (Err, that didn't quite work out the way I intended.) And since I would be going to Chris's place to hang out with Abhi and Chris, I brought them there to feed the not-so-starving not-children of Seattle.

We also watched Gran Torino. I was amused by the way the movie portrayed Asians.
Friday, January 16, 2009--Remember that uber-fog we had yesterday? Apparently, it was actually stagnant air and pollution. Ick!

On this day:
In 2006: "That doesn't mean anything to me."

Today was the premiere of the second half of the final season of Battlestar Galactica. It was slow and disappointing.
Tuesday, January 13, 2009--
On this day:
In 2006: The new Project: Viltris logo is revealed.

In case you've forgotten, it looks like this:

Sunday, January 11, 2009--
On this day:
In 2004: I beat FF2.

Saturday, January 10, 2009--Today, as I was driving down East Lake Sammamish Road on my way back from JKern's party, with MichCh and Lois in tow, I passed a cop car going the other way, and as he was passing, my radar detector went crazy. About 2 minutes later, the cop was behind me, pulling me over. Since the radar detector had gone off, I knew that he know I had been speeding. And yet, he didn't give me a ticket. Instead, he asked me if I had been drinking (to which I responded no, of course), and just let me off with a warning. How peculiar.
Friday, January 9, 2009--gas-watch: $2.05/gal

Firefox just ate up a gig of RAM, then crashed. Go figure.
Wednesday, January 7, 2009--
On this day:
In 2006: Vivian P is crowned Princess.

And ever since then, I've almost exclusively called her "Princess".
Tuesday, January 6, 2009--After work today, I traded back Michael's Xbox 360 to get my PS3 back. Apparently, the first Disgaea 3 DLC had been released in the US. Adell and Rozalin (from Disgaea 2) and Nekomata.

Adell and Rozaline were pretty easy to beat. They were only at level 100 and they had no minions. I easily took them down with my peeps in the level 80s.

On this day:
In 2005: I beat KH:CoM.

Monday, January 5, 2009--gas-watch: $1.99/gal

(I went back to work today. It's been nearly a month since I passed this gas station, and now the prices are going up. Oh dear...)

On this day:

Sunday, January 4, 2009--Today, I packed up my stuff and flew back home to Washington. Unfortunately, it was snowing in Seattle, so my flight got delayed by an hour, and this was while I was already on the plane. While I was on the plane, though, I figured, what the heck, I'll talk to this girl sitting next to me. So I did. And we struck up a conversation. It got to the point where whenever I'd stop talking and look out the window, she'd reinitiate conversation with me, asking me where I worked and what I did.

When the plane landed, I thought, what the hell, why not, I'll ask her for her phone number. We ended up exchanging e-mail addresses. Now, there's a good probability that this is another flake, but hell, it was still fun.
Saturday, January 3, 2009--You know what makes me (slightly) sad? I brought my DS down to California, but I mistakenly brought my PSP charger instead of my DS charger. So now my DS is out of battery, and I can't charge it.

It's okay. I have no shortage of things to amuse myself with. That and, I'm flying back to Washington tomorrow.

On this day:
In 2006: I beat FF8. It's the second worst FF game ever made and the most overrated FF game of all time.
In 2004: I beat FFX-2. It's the worst FF game of all time.

Friday, January 2, 2009--Today, I met up with Joyce L in Palo Alto and ate at California Pizza Kitchen. (Neither of us had pizza. Go figure.)

Later that night, Justin and I decided to go back to Cardiff Lounge so I could practice my social skills some more. Well, it seems I no longer have approach anxiety. Now it's just a matter of knowing what to say and remembering all of my interesting stories and practice telling them in an interesting way.

Like that one time...
Thursday, January 1, 2009--Happy 2009!!!

Today, I watched the Rose Bowl. It SUCked.
